The Agora Brain Health Program is a collaboration of holistic and scientific approaches, methods and professional practitioners.

Each part of this program is a building block towards your physical health as well as your mental, emotional and spiritual well-being.

Listed below are the main components that are provided to increase and strengthen your brain health.

We live in a world where “interference” is the obstacle that prevents life-force from flowing abundantly through the body. Chemical interference is at the root of many of today’s chronic health challenges. The science is extensive. Blood sugar irregularities, energy lapses, fatigue, brain fog, insomnia, irritability, weight gain, autoimmune and hormone/thyroid challenges may all have toxicity at their core. Toxins accumulate from the air we breathe, the foods we eat, and the environment we live in, and while they’re invisible and insidious, they’re hazardous to your health. It doesn’t happen as you might think. You don’t breathe in toxic fumes and fall to the ground. These chemicals are in everything from pesticides to airplane exhaust and they find their way into the cells of your body and begin a gradual breakdown that manifests as symptoms or signals that your body may be breaking down at the cellular level.

Now for the really good news. Through a groundbreaking program, an age-old approach to releasing energy blockages combined with the newest science revealing our ability to alter genetic expression, we’re able to provide a system for True Cellular Detox™. This approach to health restoration supports the underlying foundation of your body’s natural ability to heal itself, bringing back the sense of wellness and well-being you long for.

The program includes extensive direction, full revelation of the science behind it, and a systemized method of taking you from where you are to where you want to be. True Cellular Detox™ is one-of-a-kind. It has nothing to do with the limited value detox programs you might find in your health food store. This fully supported nutrition and lifestyle program is only delivered through hand-picked licensed health practitioners, and I’m proud to announce we are one of the only groups in Canada offering this program to our clients.  We’ve known for some time that in order to fast track the learning curve you need to go to the source and learn from the top doctors in the field-like Dr Dan Pompa.  Let’s explore how this amazing and comprehensive offering can get you to your physical best. Every achievement begins with a step.

Brain Mapping

What Are Brainwaves? How Do They Affect Me?

Neurofeedback targets the four primary brainwaves (Alpha, Beta, Delta, Theta). Each of these brainwaves is responsible for regulating the active and subconscious aspects of your body. Take a look at the diagram below:

Delta Brainwave
Sleepy, Dreaming

Delta brainwaves are associated with deep, dreamless sleep and regeneration. Delta brainwaves occur when you are asleep and are responsible for healing the body.

Theta Brainwave
Drowsy, Meditative

Theta brainwaves are associated with light sleep or extreme relaxation. When your subconscious takes over you start producing Theta brainwaves.

Alpha Brainwave
Relaxed, Reflective

Alpha brainwaves occur when you are awake but relaxed and not processing much information. When you first get up and right before you fall asleep, you are generating Alpha waves, as well as when you close your eyes to rest.

Beta Brainwave
Alert, Working

Beta brainwaves are associated with the mental state most people are in during the day and most of their waking lives. When you are alert and focused, you are producing Beta brainwaves.

While each of these brainwaves is responsive for different body functions, they all are equally important to your health and well-being. Researchers have known for decades the correlation between Irregular brainwaves and common neurological conditions. Neurofeedback is the first field to directly target these irregular brainwaves and restore them to normal ranges.

Decades of Research on Brain Mapping

Over 1,000 studies have been published related to neurofeedback and biofeedback. The early animal research, which has been validated in many peer-reviewed journals since the 1970s, showed: that brainwaves can be changed through operant conditioning, and that seizures are reduced with EEG training. These studies were originally done in the 1960’s using cats with no chance of placebo effects. Since the 1970’s research has been verified in human studies, and based on decades of additional research on humans of all ages the basis for neurofeedback has become extremely solid.

Brain Mapping: What is it?

Brain Mapping uses neurofeedback - which literally means “brain” and “input”, where the brain is monitored and input is given instantly. Neurofeedback specifically monitors brainwaves, looks for irregularities, then produces a signal that is designed to correct the irregularity and guide the brainwave back into a healthy pattern. With repetition of this process over time, the brain will learn to stay in healthy ranges without the aid of the computer. The result is an improvement in brain regulation, which in turn can reduce or eliminate most neurological symptoms.

What Type Of Input Is Used?

The signal source varies based on the system used, but it usually involves audio or video of the patient’s choosing. The process is so easy, a patient can actually get better just by listening to their favorite music or watching their favorite videos. The process is non-invasive, requires no drugs and is pain free.

Who Can Benefit?

Neurofeedback can work on anyone, no matter the age. All that is required is the ability to focus on the audio or video stimulation. Any neurological condition that involves irregular brainwaves can be targeted and improved with neurofeedback. These conditions include attention-deficit disorder, addiction, anxiety, autism, brain injury, depression, fibromyalgia, insomnia, migraines, obsessive compulsive disorder, stress, stroke and more!

Neurofeedback: What is it?

Neurofeedback is exercise for the Brain! Neurofeedback, also called EEG Biofeedback is a state-of-the-art, non-invasive method for teaching the brain to function in a more balanced and healthful way. It does so by shifting the way the brain produces and distributes its electrical energy. Four divisions of electrical impulses made by our brain, Delta, Theta, Alpha and Beta are called “frequency bands”. These frequency bands tell us which parts of your brain are active and which frequency bands the brain should be using to complete a given task or activity. For instance, when we are balancing our checkbooks or in a class following directions, certain areas of our brain will need to be active and using the faster frequency called Beta. On the other hand, if after a long day we wish to relax and wind down, a different part of the brain will need to be activated using the slower brainwave frequency called Alpha. The goal of Neurofeedback is to improve the brain’s ability to self-regulate, maintain flexibility, and smoothly shift between states of relaxation and arousal. Since the Brain also controls attention regulation, emotional regulation and affect regulation, this ultimately allows the entire central nervous system to resume normal functioning.

How is Neurofeedback Done?

Sensors are placed on the head and ears to record the brainwave activity. High-tech equipment amplifies the electrical impulses and breaks them into the four key frequency bands. Using sophisticated computer software a customized protocol is developed to address the individual’s unique needs. During the session the Neurofeedback Clinician views the raw EEG signal as well as the chosen frequency bands. Exercises can be done with either eyes open or eyes closed. With eyes open the Client is watching a video or playing a game. The video fades in and out depending on whether or not the brain is increasing the desired frequencies and decreasing other frequencies. With eyes closed exercises the software will translate the client’s brainwaves into sound frequencies which the person listens to. The client is told which sound means the brain is shifting patterns in the desired direction and is reinforced in this manner. At the conclusion of the 30 Minute training period, the Clinician shares and discusses the Training Review Screen.

Why does Neurofeedback Work?

Neurofeedback takes advantage of the brain’s ability to change itself through a process known as Neuroplasticity. It utilizes the same learning process that occurs whenever we acquire a new skill. The brain learns by forming connections between nerve cells and utilizing important pathways that connect different locations in the brain. The more frequently you utilize these pathways the better the brain becomes at performing the associated task. In psychology, this type of learning is called “Operant Conditioning”. It is a type of learning in which responses come to be controlled by their consequences. Quite simply, Neurofeedback offers the perfect learning conditions, since it facilitates awareness of when the brain is producing healthier brainwave patterns, provides reinforcement for the positive change and multiple opportunities to provide practice during a training session.

How Will You Know Which Frequency Bands and Which Areas of My Brain to Train?

At Agora, we prefer to offer qEEG-guided Neurofeedback. The first step is to gather information about the electrical activity of specific locations of the brain. We place what looks like a swim cap with a number of sensors on your head to measure the brain wave activity of the various frequency bands. This is done with the client sitting quietly with his or her eyes closed for approximately 5 minutes and then with eyes open for an additional 5 minutes. Our equipment will then analyze this information and generate a series of images that will identify which areas of the brain may be too active or not active enough. This is called a Brain Map. The Brain Map provides an invaluable overview of what is going on in the brain and will be used in conjunction with information provided by the client to develop the training plan.

With your doctor’s guidance, you have a personalized system designed to optimize your health care program. The brain emits different types of waves. Through Clear Mind Focus™ light and sound technology, in a 30-minute session, your brain-wave frequency instantly changes speed to a healthier and more normal pattern. Your body-mind function becomes enhanced.

Once the brain map has been completed, treatments consist of targeting the areas of the brain that may be affected.  These treatments are done weekly and use advanced technologies to heal the brain. The Information is provided through Clearmindcenter.com and you can view a video by Dr. Richard Souter called The Benefits of Photic Light Stimulation During Neurofeedback for more information.  This is the most advanced technology for healing a variety of brain health issues.

45 million people in the US over age 85 will suffer from dementia or Alzheimer's. Agora's goal is to prevent that from happening to you and we offer several approaches to enable you to live long, healthy lives and, whenever possible, keep you away from harmful medications.

Neuro Repair & Regeneration

Neuroreceptor Repair and Regeneration

This unique, highly effective program combines the use of brain nutrients, vitamins, minerals and amino acids to eliminate the craving, repair and repattern the brain and balance distressing emotions. It is gentle and long-lasting.

Drugs, whether prescription drugs (pain pills, antidepressants, stimulants, or benzodiazepines such as Ativan, Valium, Xanax, or Klonopin), alcohol, tobacco, or street drugs (methamphetamine, cocaine, heroin, marijuana, ecstasy, LSD, PCP and others) all have something in common: they overstimulate certain neurotransmitter receptors (nerves) in the brain. This is how they bring about their effects, but it is also how they cause lasting damage that leads to deeper addiction and the inability to handle the stresses of normal life.

NRR consists of an intravenous solution of amino acids (the building blocks that make up all the proteins in our bodies) which actually rebuilds the damaged areas of the brain. These basic amino acids are specially formulated to be able to penetrate and positively influence the brain. The brain can then function again much more normally, cravings disappear, stress levels become much more normal, and clarity of mind is restored.

When taking combinations of amino acids into the body, some will work against others. This is the way the body is designed so that it can ultimately get what it needs from the environment. Also, crossing the "blood-brain barrier" is a difficult process for most substances. Hence, the NRR formulas had to be designed so that only the proper amino acids which would not counteract each other were used, and so that they were very effective in actually penetrating the brain. NRR restores the body physically from the damage done by drugs or alcohol. The other major factor that will determine whether you succeed is your maturity level and strong personal desire to be done with drugs forever.

Glutathione Therapy

Glutathione is the antioxidant that is present in every cell in the human body. Glutathione is primarily synthesized in the liver where it is abundantly present.

A high percentage of the blood that leaves the stomach and intestines passes through the liver. The blood carries important nutrients to the liver where they are metabolized into substances vital to life. In the same way, exogenous toxic substances reach the liver where they are either activated or transformed into less toxic derivatives. Glutathione plays a crucial role in the liver’s biotransformation system.

Free radicals play an important role in the development and progression of many brain disorders such as brain injury, neurodegenerative disease, schizophrenia and Down’s syndrome. Glutathione is the brain’s master antioxidant and plays an important protective role in the brain. Free radicals and oxidative damage in neurons is known to be a primary cause of degenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s disease.

Amyloid plaques encroaching on the brain increase the production of free radicals, or oxidative stress. Antioxidants, such as vitamin C and E remove the damaging free radicals. Glutathione can prevent the death of brain cells induced by amyloid plaques in Alzheimer’s disease.

Taking glutathione itself as a supplement does not boost cellular glutathione levels, since it breaks down in the digestive tract before it reaches the cells. However, intravenous glutathione therapy, along with dietary supplements, is effective in boosting intracellular levels of glutathione.

NAD Therapy

 T

NAD stands for nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide, which is the chemical term for a molecule that reacts with oxygen in the mitochondria in every cell of your body in order to create energy so you can move, breathe, pump blood, digest food, think, and generally, live your life.

Lack of this essential cellular fuel is now recognized as a key feature of chronic fatigue, apathy, depression, anxiety, alcohol and drug addiction, weak immune system (infections and cancer), muscle pain and weakness, headaches, memory disturbance, sleep problems, focus and concentration defects and other chronic diseases. NAD deficiency may be an unrecognized epidemic of cellular disease.

NAD is an activated form of vitamin B3 which becomes a coenzyme when it is bound with hydrogen becoming NADH. Hydrogen, as in hydrogen bomb, is the explosive power that the body uses, along with oxygen, to make energy. Liquid hydrogen and liquid oxygen explode when blended together becoming the fuel that propels rockets into the sky. Hydrogen is so explosive that it must be safely inserted into a molecule so that it can be used by the body. NAD is the carrier for reactive hydrogen as it becomes NADH.

This is how it works. We eat carbohydrates, proteins and fats which provide the chemicals that enter the Citric Acid Cycle, a molecular roundabout that produces NADH. The NAD is now “loaded” with hydrogen (NADH) which in turn enters the electron transport chain in the mitochondria and is “sparked” with oxygen and the outcome is energy, or, ATP, along with water. ATP, or adenosine triphospate, is the fuel for the heart to beat, the muscles to contract and for every cellular energy requirement with in the 100 trillion cells of the body.

It is clear to see how important NADH is for the body as it is involved in every bodily function and catalyzes more than a thousand metabolic reactions in the organs and tissues. The heart uses the most NAD as it beats around 86,000 times daily. The brain consumes about one-third of all the energy produced by the body. Often an energy deficiency is first detected in the brain with poor concentration, difficulty focusing, and attention deficit. If the energy shortage lasts long enough, brain neurons cannot synthesize neurotransmitters, the molecules of consciousness, such as serotonin, dopamine, and noradrenaline, and we experience anxiety, depression, sleep disturbance and other mood changes.

Let us take a look at some of the functions of NADH in the body:

  • Increases energy in heart cells

  • Increases energy in brain cells

  • Protects and repairs DNA, reducing DNA mutations which contribute to atherosclerosis, cancer, immunodeficiency, rheumatoid arthritis, and much more

  • The “most powerful antioxidant” in the body according to Dr. Richard Passwater in his book NADH-The Energizing Coenzyme

  • Lowers cholesterol

  • Lowers blood pressure

  • Strengthens the immune system

  • Stimulates production of dopamine, serotonin, and noradrenaline, thereby improving moods

  • Stimulates nitric oxide production, thereby improving blood flow in the body

Medical research has shown the following medical conditions to improve with 10 days of NAD therapy:

  • Chronic fatigue

  • Muscle pain and weakness

  • Joint pain and stiffness

  • Headaches

  • Depression

  • Anxiety

  • Alcohol and drug addiction including Rx drugs

  • Diabetes

  • Sleep disturbance

  • Memory loss (forgetfulness)

  • Attention deficit

  • Fevers, sore throats and swollen lymph glands

  • Parkinson’s disease

  • Cancer

Research has also shown that NAD can provide the following benefits in “healthy” people:

  • Increased physical energy

  • Improved mental performance

  • Improved response to short term sleep deprivation

  • Reduce the effects of jet lag

  • Enhance libido

  • Anti-aging

Since NAD is so fundamental to good health, how is it that we can become deficient in this powerful molecule? First of all, the vitamins, minerals, complex carbohydrates, proteins and fats come from our diet and provide the building blocks to citric acid cycle energy production. If any one of the nutritional factors is low, energy production is weakened. Since oxygen is just as important as hydrogen in cellular energetics, lack of exercise and shallow breathing due to stress are common factors that can reduce the amount of oxygen at the cell level. And finally the enzymes that catalyze the citric acid cycle are often inhibited or destroyed by chemical or physical toxins that create oxidative, or free radical, damage. Free radical damage comes from cigarette smoke, drugs, radio waves from cell phones and wi-fi, and the myriad chemicals found in all humans at this time on earth, including phalates, parabens, pesticides, styrene, benzene, toluene, and thousands more. For example, medical scientists now widely believe that Alzheimer’s dementia and Parkinson’s disease share the common feature of nerve cell degeneration due to impairment of the ATP producing enzymes with the citric acid cycle and mitochondria.

However, there is more than acquired NAD deficiency, due to poor diet, chronic stress, sedentary living and toxin accumulation so common in our modern world – it may also be genetic for some people. Genetic NAD deficiency may be present at birth and appear in children as poor sleeping, behavioral problems, hyperactivity, impaired concentration, academic stress and underachievement. Some people have been tired and depressed for as long as they can remember. For these people there is a greater tendency to try drugs and alcohol in order to improve energy and mood, and simply feel better, but the risk for addiction is high. I have treated several people addicted to drugs, alcohol or medical drugs such as benzodiazapenes, like Valium, Librium and Klonopin, with intravenous NAD, thereby eliminating the addiction and leading to improved energy and moods in the long run.

Genetic disorders in energy production are complex and the research is accumulating to help us understand this important issue. There may be a genetic polymorphism that reduces a gene coding for a mitochondrial protein. Since mitochondrial DNA is all received from the mother through the egg (no mitochondria are found in sperm) we can look to the maternal side for clues to energy production in the family history.

How do you treat NAD deficiency?

First of all NAD is in many of the foods that we eat, but it is mostly lost in cooking and what little remains is broken down by the acid in our stomachs. Many research scientists have observed that NAD is oxidized and degraded before it is absorbed from the digestive tract. More recent studies have shown that NAD can be provided in a stabilized form and will increase ATP production in the body and in the brain, thereby offering hope to patients with neurodegenerative disorders.

For patients with severe NAD deficiencies, such as alcoholics or drug addicts, the intravenous form has been shown to be highly effective, usually eliminating the physical craving within three or four days and then producing a clarity of thinking with continued daily IV therapy. The cognitive and emotional improvement is likely due to increased production of neurotransmitters such as serotonin, noradrenalin and dopamine. Numerous studies have shown that IV NAD is highly beneficial for drug addicted patients, including those addicted to benzodiazepine medications like Valium, Librium and Klonopin.

NAD therapy offers a foundational treatment that promotes health throughout the body.
